Dear Members of Barnard College Staff,

We are writing to provide you with another update on the College’s continued response to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). As President Beilock advised in her message earlier this evening, Barnard College and Columbia University will suspend all classes on Monday, March 9, 2020, and Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Classes are expected to resume as online courses on Wednesday, March 11.

All staff are expected to report to work as normal on March 9 and 10; although classes are cancelled, the College offices will observe normal working hours and conditions on those dates. We remind you that no Barnard student, faculty or staff member has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Classes are being cancelled out of an abundance of caution.

As a reminder, symptoms of COVID-19 include fever and cough, sometimes with difficulty breathing. These symptoms may be similar to the flu or the common cold.  If you are experiencing these symptoms or are not feeling well, please stay home from work and call your primary care provider. Employees who have questions about the use or availability of sick leave, leave of absences or work accommodations should contact Human Resources at 646-745-8350.

For additional information, please visit the COVID-19 Guidance for the Barnard College Community website at alert.barnard.edu

Finally, we want you to know how much we appreciate the support you are providing each other and the College during this time. As we learn more, we will update you as soon as possible.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to either of us with questions.

Sincerely,

Eileen M. Di Benedetto
Interim CFO and Vice President for Finance
