Dear Alumnae,

Barnard and the world are adjusting to a new reality.

As President Beilock reported last week, a majority of Barnard students have now returned home in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, and the College is working to move forward with the important scholarly work that is so pivotal to the community. Students and faculty will begin their virtual classwork in the coming days, essential staff continues to support students who remain on campus, with other staff working remotely, including to engage the broader community in new ways.

Alumnae FAQ

You may have questions for how this outbreak has affected Barnard and the alumnae community. The Development and Alumnae Relations team has developed an FAQ to answer your immediate questions. This website will be updated as new information becomes available. The most important item to note is that although the College has shifted to working remotely, Barnard is still here for you.

Stay Engaged with Barnard

Resources like Beyond Barnard, obtaining Alumnae ID cards, and many of the important services provided by the Development and Alumnae Relations team remain available. Along with our dedicated alumnae volunteers, Barnard is brainstorming creative new ways to engage the alumnae community, including holding, depending on how circumstances unfold, a virtual event in place of Reunion in June. Keep an eye on your email and Barnard’s social media channels for more.

How You Can Help

In true Barnard fashion, so many alumnae have reached out to ask how they can help students through this challenging situation. The most immediate and impactful action you can take is to contribute to Barnard's Safety Net, an emergency relief fund for our students. This fund will cover a wide variety of unforeseen expenses that students have incurred during this difficult time. In addition to financial support, now is a great time to sign up for Barnard Connect to collaborate with Beyond Barnard to share, educate, and advise students professionally.

Although we are not able to come together in person, the community is coming together virtually from around the world as we work through these extraordinary circumstances. As long as we continue to support each other, and Barnard, I know the College will come out of this stronger than ever before.

Best wishes to you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,
Jyoti Menon ’01
President, Alumnae Association of Barnard College
